This is a 1602 LCD 16×2 Character LCD Display For Arduino Uno, Decimal, Duemilanove, and Free duino boards.
1602 16×2 Blue Character LCD Display For Arduino is a basic 16 character by 2 lines Alphanumeric display. This LCD 16×2 Character LCD Displayhas White text on a blue background. Utilizes the extremely common HD44780 parallel interface chipset. Interface code is freely available. You will need Minimum 6 general I/O pins to interface to this LCD screen. Includes LED backlight. Works in 4bit and 8 bit Mode.

The board uses different pins than the Arduino example sketches, so to make the display work, use the following sequence of pins when starting the library:
Liquid Crystal lcd(8,9,4,5,6,7);
The buttons are connected to only one analogue input pin through resistors to give a different voltage for each button, thus saving on input and output pins. Reading the buttons is easy, and an example code is shown below.
